Yana Engelbrecht is a visual artist and filmmaker working across Production design,
Art Direction, Direction, Concept Development & Research.
Across fiction, documentary and commercial projects, her work is led by a visual approach, with color, shape and composition often taking precedence over dialogue or conventional narrative structures. Through a stylized and minimal visual language, she creates carefully constructed worlds in which art direction, environment and character are closely intertwined.
Rather than explaining everything, her images leave space for ambiguity, interpretation and the viewer’s own imagination.
